Around 4 pm, we invited several of Aden and Azul's little friends to come over and celebrate Aden's birthday. It was mainly a get together for pizza, cake, and fun. No gifts etc...the girls have so much. It was a beautiful day, and the kids played outside then came in for pizza and cake. Aden is ALWAYS using my camera, so she got a camera for her birthday. She was able to take lots of pics of her friends. They also had some "blue" hair mascara, which the girls painted each others hair. Since it was a school night, the fun was over early. It is such a blessing to have good friends! Happy Birthday Aden!!!

Happy Birthday Princess Aden!
Today is Aden's birthday. It is hard to believe she is already 8 years old. This afternoon, we went up to the school and had cupcakes and juice after recess in the classroom. The class sang Happy Birthday to Aden, and then lined up to give her a birthday hug. After the kids finished their birthday snacks, they played Hot Potato. Aden got to wear the Birthday crown all day long. Later this afternoon, we invited a few of Aden's friends to come over and have pizza and cake. Happy Birthday Princess Aden!!!!

Happy Trails!
Today we were all home together, since it is the Martin Luther King holiday. We went out to a ranch in Georgetown, were for a 50 lb bag of feed or bale of hay donation, you can saddle up and ride for as long as you like. We started with the little Shetland ponies and finished with the "real" horses. We mostly lead the horses by a rope, since the girls have never ridden by themselves. They have been on ponies before, but never alone. Carlos and myself just walked with the girls. The owner was named Lynn, and she was very sweet and helpful. About half of the horses are rescues. It was incredibly windy and gusty, but the girls didn't want to leave. They got to help saddle, unsaddle, and put the ponies back out in the pasture. We bought the grain for the horses at a local feed store, and the girls enjoyed looking at all of the pullets, and rabbits in the back. It was a really nice afternoon together!

Afternoon at the mall
The girls spent the day with Carlos at the mall. I have been in PALS for the last two days, so I opted for the nap over the mall. The girls favorite shops in the mall are Build a Bear Workshop and Clair's. And of course they got stuff from both stores. For Aden's birthday coming up, she got a new bear, named Hannah Montana! They also got their faces painted at the Build a Bear workshop.

Back to the GRIND STONE

I can't believe I am saying this, but it is good to be back to our regular routine! The girls returned to school on Tuesday, and I went in and worked extra Tuesday and Wednesday, and Carlos is back to work also. Thursday and Friday was mostly putting away ALL of the Christmas decorations, and Friday we all ate lunch up at the school. Carlos starts his new schedule next week. YEA!!!! He'll be working M-F only during the day!! And he will be here in the evenings!!! Aden's birthday is coming up, and since she wanted a pony for Christmas, we are are going to go horse back riding on Monday Jan 19th. Santa couldn't bring a pony!!! Happy New Year everyone!!! 2009 is going to be a GOOD year!

New Year's Evening
We have a tradition on New Years day, we make Posole and Lentejas, which is a Lentil soup, and Carlos' family usually comes over. We light the fire pit and the chimenea and visit and enjoy some good food. The kids roasted marshmallows, which was a lot of fun. Tiffani, one of little neighbors brought over some "sparklers", and the girls enjoyed lighting them up. Everyone was tired a little sore and bruised from the night before. That mechanical bull was a killer! We have had a very nice vacation and time together. This is a great way to start the new year. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 2009!
Happy New Year 2009! Last night we all went to a New Year Eve's party, that Carlos' brother, Servando organizes every year. We all had a really fun time. There was a dance, mechanical bull, an inflatable jumping castle for the kids, but the kids had more fun jumping on the landing pad of the mechanical bull, and LOTS of food. A really nice group turned out for the party. We all got home at 3:30 am! Time flies when your having a good time! Happy New Year 2009!
Ride that TORO Carlos!
Last night for New Year's Eve, we all went to a party, that Carlos' brother organizes every year. This year he had rented a mechanical bull, which turned out to be A LOT OF FUN! I even rode the bull, but in extra SLOW mode! Carlos finally got up the courage to ride the bull, and he actually stayed on for a long time. The girls rode the bull also, and the pictures are on the next post. Happy New Year!
