Summer Pool Fun!

We have been trying to go to the pool as MUCH as possible this summer. This has been such a hot summer, but it has been so hot, that we have to go in the mornings, it is just TOO hot to swim in the afternoons! I am so proud of the girls, we have been practicing their "form" or the mechanics of their stoke for about 30 minutes each time we were at the pool this summer. They can both swim the entire length of the pool, CORRECTLY, with beautiful form! I'll have a couple of swim/lap partners soon! Stay COOL!

Luncheon at the Church

We all had lunch at the church this afternoon. The luncheon was a special celebration for the children in the church who have accepted Jesus as their Savior, and are wanting to be baptised. It was a nice afternoon. Aden is going to be baptised, August 2nd. We are very excited for her! The one picture is a game they played with a 24 piece puzzle, and the message was the missing pieces in our lives and and in our families. The kids had to take one piece, and trade it with another table, and see if the piece fit or if caused the puzzle to have a "missing" piece. Very clever and age appropriate!

Happy Birthday Merary!

Last night we all went to a Quiencinerna, which is a special "15th" birthday party in the the Latino culture. It is a type of "right of passage" for girls. Carlos had a lot of his family from Mexico visiting here in Austin. We all went over the Carlos' brother's house after the party to visit etc...We all had a great time! Happy Birthday! This a picture of Carlos' niece, Merary with Aden and Azul.

Fine Arts Camp Recital

The girls have been in camp all week at The Children's Fine Arts Workshop. It has been a great week! The preformed this evening all the things they learned during the week. They had classes in drama, choir, hand chimes, art, and guitar. I was impressed how many things they had accomplished during their week at camp. It was very well done!

Finishing up the painting on the back deck

Carlos has been working a little every day to finish up the painting on the back deck. It was been over 100 degrees every day for the past 21 days, with 106 yesterday! So he can only work until about 1 or 2 in the afternoon, after that it is too HOT! It is starting to look really nice! The plan is to work our way around the house, well, that is the plan. The trim on the outside of the deck still is not finished, but hopefully tomorrow that will be done. We also have a ceiling fan to take the place of the over head lights. I took a picture of the finished gate from the front also.

The Girls Start Music Camp this Week!

The girls are in music camp this week, a day camp at our church. At the end of the week, there will be a recital of all of the things they'll learn this week. Azul took her guitar to the camp. We are having such a great summer, I am going to be sad when it is all over.

4th of July

This year we decided to stay home and enjoy the 4th of July with some of our friends. It was finally decided that the "weekend" people were officially off for the 4th, this decision went on for almost a month, but it was nice to be off on the 4th. Every year we go some event, but this year it was nice just to celebrate at home. We had BBQ and I had bought some sparklers for the kids from a roadside stand on the way back from San Antonio on Thursday. It was really a lot of fun! I bought our 4th of July shirts in Ashland, while we were up in Ohio! Happy Independence Day!
