We have had rain all day today! And it is a welcomed site! This has been one of the hottest Junes since we have lived in Round Rock, with temps over 100 degrees for the last two weeks. We drove up to Bell county, close to Waco, last Sunday, for a party, and there were literally miles of corn fields that were brown, and almost dead. I didn't realize how devastating this year's drought has been for farmers and ranchers. Very different from Ohio! It has been a GREAT day to play board games. And it is only 80 degrees today! WOW!

A Fun Afternoon in Waco!

We all went to a Birthday party/Get together this afternoon near Waco. Celia and Flavio are the same ages as Aden and Azul, and they used to live in our neighborhood. It has been nice, since we have all remained friends over the years. It was HOT, but that didn't spoil the fun. We all left the party around 7 pm, since I needed to go into work. A special THANK YOU to Farra, one of the RN's in my department, she stayed over 2 hours, so I could come in a little later Sunday night. I took my camera, but didn't take any pictures this year. The theme was Tinkerbell and The X Men.

A Good Day to do a Puzzle
It has been over 100 degrees since we have come home from Ohio, with a record of 107 degrees on Thursday! We have been spending A LOT of time in doors. I saw this puzzle in the store while grocery shopping, and thought it would be fun to work on. It is a 300 piece puzzle, which the girls had no problem with putting it together. It was so pretty, that I put puzzle glue on it, and am going to put it up stair in one of the girl's rooms.

They Earned It!
Today we celebrated "HARD WORK"! They girls have been reading, doing math problems and puzzles, and penmanship. So today we bought a little inflatable pool and had a pool party to celebrate! Our neighborhood pool is closed on Tuesdays, and it was 102 degrees, so why not?! The pool was big enough, that we could ALL get in!
New Library Cards
The girls have library cards at another library, but today we opened up new accounts and got cards at another library. This library has a very large selection of books in spanish. I am so proud of the girls, they have been going math problems, reading, and practicing their penmanship. They are so smart, and so willing to learn, it is such a beautiful thing!

Family Night at VBS
Tonight was Family Night at VBS. It was really a lot of fun. The theme this year was The Boomerang Express, and Australian theme. Every year the church sponsors a group in need, and this year it was an orphanage in Nicaragua. The kids donated shoes they had at home. These children can not go to school without shoes, and many children have never owed a pair of shoes. It was a great week, and the girls really enjoyed themselves and learned some good things.

Extending the side fence
Carlos has been wanting to extend our fence on the east side of the house for about a year, and today he "DID" it! I got home from the hospital about 4:30pm and the fence was almost finished. He just needs to make a gate. The weather has been a little better, with lower humidity, and the east side of the house is shaded in the afternoon, so working outside is a little more tolerable. Were still missing the Ohio weather!

VBS starts this week!
Today starts Vacation Bible School at our church. The girls go every year, and it is so much fun! This year the theme is the Australian Outback. The first day is always a lot of fun, and the girls will get to do all kinds of things this week and learn about Jesus. There was a big kangaroo greeting the kids this morning.
Our Trip to Ohio
WOW! We were in Ohio for seven days, and it was wonderful! We went up for my Grandmother's memorial service, and we wanted to stay over to see the area and visit family. The last time we were in Ohio, it was snowing, in April! And we had NO time to do anything. This visit gave us the opportunity to enjoy ourselves, and enjoy Ohio. We stayed with my aunt Pat and uncle Hal for the week. We were able to visit Malabar Farm State Park, Mohican State Park, the New London Reservoir, Amish country, Honey Haven Farms, and nice visits with family. We swam at Nat's pool, and we were able spend lots of time out at Pat and Hals. Thank you everyone for the hospitality! I took so many pictures, it was hard to pick a few to place on the blog. I made a GREAT photo book of our visit to Ohio.

The girls both had their end of the school parties today. I left work early to go to the parties, since we are leaving for Ohio tomorrow. They had lots of games and food! The girls will both have the same teachers next year, which I am very happy to say. This has bee a great year! We are all looking forward to a nice summer.

Aden's Award Ceremomy this morning!
Well, it's the last week of school, and today was Aden's award ceremony for 2nd grade. I worked last night, so 9:15 am was an awkward time. It is hard to believe that Aden is going to be in 3rd grade next year. They are both growing up so fast! Aden was awarded the ALL "A" Honor roll! Way to go Aden!
