Soccer is back in full swing! The girls had back to back games today, which is always a plus! Aden and Azul both scored two goals, and their both of their teams won today. It is still in the high 80s low 90s in the afternoons. Azul is on the Allstars, and Aden is on the Tigers again this year. Go girls!

Beautiful Fall Afternoon!
Monday, the weather turned cooler, and being out side became almost mandatory. Aden and Azul, along with several young neighbors, played outside for nearly two hours, playing games and riding bikes etc...I could see the kiddos from the screen door in the front, and they were all playing some kind of guessing game, so I went out an took a picture. I wish this weather would stay, but it is only temporary.

Hurrican Ike misses us BIG!

Austin and the surrounding area, literally shut down, the girls were released from school, and even UT canceled their football game Saturday. Ike was predicted to hit Corpus Christi, and then move north, with the eye directly aiming for Austin. We have a lot of evacuees here in Austin, with emergency shelters etc. We helped with the Katrina evacuation. Carlos volunteered at one of the school shelters, and I volunteered at Brackenridge Hospital with evacuees needing medical attention. Well, we never even got a drop of rain. Ike hit Houston and Galveston and did some major damage to both cities, then Ike moved east. Saturday here in Austin was an absolutely beautiful day, as if there was NO hurricane. I was nice to have a quiet Saturday, since soccer had been canceled.

In Memory of 9/11
I still remember, sitting in Dr. Uribe's office waiting room, listening to the radio, which usually wasn't part of the waiting room decor, and listening to the details of 9/11. I was in for follow up appointment after Aden had been born, and Dr. Uribe is my OB/GYN, and I couldn't believe what was happening. It was incredibly frightening. It is good to see how many people have the flag out today.

Welcome Andrea to Dell Children's Medical Center
I became a mentor through the Versant Mentor program back in August. The Versant program is a program to retain new nursing graduates that hired on to the hospital. Andrea is a very sweet and caring person, and she is going to make a great nurse when she graduates. We met at the Holy Roast, which is a nice little coffee cafe within the hospital. The program started last year, but I was not able to take the class last year. We had a very nice visit, almost two hours. The pic is of the two of us in the cafe. Welcome Andrea!
